Vista shows wireless Brother MFC-490CW offline
I had Windows Vista running on to my system installed on my laptop. Also, I have another laptop running on Windows XP system. Both the system is connected on wireless printer. Here I am able to print using my Windows XP but unable to print using Windows Vista. On Vista system my Brother MFC-490CW inkjet wireless printer shows offline. I had already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer but it was not working fine. Kindly help!!

For resolving your issues kindly follow the instructions given below:
1. Click on start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Printers
4. Check for your printer working online
5. Go to printer and faxes
6. Go to properties
7. Select on ports
8. Select add new port
9. Enter the IP address
10. Reboot your system

Try uninstalling and reinstalling latest device drivers for your wireless printer i.e. Brother MFC-490CW in the following sequence:
1. click on start
2. click on control panel
3. go to hardware and sound
4. select printers
5. remove the printer
6. now for uninstalling the driver select start
7. go to control panel
8. select on uninstall program
9. select the driver of your printer
10. select uninstall
11. for uninstalling your wireless printer go to start
12. Select control panel
13. Go to programs
14. Uninstall the program
15. Click on your wireless printer software
16. Select uninstall
17. Now download the recent drivers from Vista’s print driver
18. After this install the drivers used for your wireless printer

To solve your problems follow these simple steps as given below:
1. Cancel all your printing work assigned
2. Go to system settings
3. Select on your printer option
4. Enable your wireless printer
5. Now switch off your printer and on it again
6. Check all your network connections
7. Now print your work

For this purpose switch off your printer for at least 5 seconds. Then after sometime on it which will show your connection mentioned on the task bar which is on the right side bottom of your screen. Also, you will require rebooting your router to work your system fine. Or else try restoring your system to the previously working condition if there is any. If there is any then try using system restore option back to the original working condition by going through control panel and selecting performance and maintenance.
